What is a Salon?
Salon events share the same characteristics of the annual TEDxWilmington Conference: brief, yet powerful opportunities for conversation and heightened interaction between the speaker and audience. Short and sweet, each Salon event consists of one or two 90 minute sessions rather than being an all-day affair. Unlike the annual TEDxWilmington Conference, Salons can have a singular theme. Salons, with their casual, intimate and malleable structure, harness the hands-on, community focused spirit, anchoring a TEDx program. Because they happen more frequently, peppered between larger events, they create a special social cohesion. Salon events function as a source of continual nourishment for each individual TEDx, feeding into the community that they have already built. All of the little ripples add up in the end to create waves of knowledge and change in the community.
Four reasons you’ll love TEDx salons:
A critical element of each salon is the lively discussion, allowing attendees to actively participate in the event.
The Single Subject
Having the ability to focus on only one subject creates a focused audience and atmosphere.
The Choice of Format
Salon events range from dinner party settings to mini standard TEDx events, and anything in between.
Salons are recurring events that offer an exciting way to stay engaged with the community.
