What an amazing experience this has been! I have worked on several exciting projects in my time and this is right at the top! This was one of those experiences where if I wasn’t actually working on the TEDx talk I was thinking about it. Ideas for tweaks and rewrites were pretty near constant, which really tested my memorization skills. I was getting more and more excited as my talk was beginning to take the shape I was looking for. I knew I had an important message and a passion for what I wished to discuss and it became stronger every day.
The day of rehearsal I was travelling from my home in New Jersey to Wilmington. What should have been an hour and 10 minute drive took almost 2 hours and 45 minutes as I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic about 10 miles outside of Philadelphia. I was bordering on panic but realized that this was completely out of my control. I called TEDxWilmington Assistant Producer Kelsey and she was awesome as usual reassuring me that all would be fine.
And it was! Rehearsal was awesome. Under Ajit and Kelsey’s leadership the tribe did an outstanding job in guiding us through the process. The support and camaraderie among the speakers and the tribe was incredible. The rehearsal dinner was inspiring.
The day of the talk arrived and what a day it was. Powerful talks from TEDVancouver followed by moving and inspirational talks on the TEDxWilmington red carpet. For me this was truly a life changing event! Thank you Ajit, Kelsey, and the tribe! And to my fellow speakers, it was an honor to share the stage with you! In the spirit of fellowship and ideas worth spreading I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
