No More Sitting on The Sidelines for Me!
For years I have been sitting on the sidelines watching, studying great leaders, great speakers, and TED talks. I am in awe of their ability to clearly articulate and powerfully communicate their ideas, each transforming their audiences in their own unique way. I found myself saying “I want that!”
What was once a dream is now becoming a reality – I am delivering my first TEDx talk November 2.
So what propelled me to get off the sidelines (of life) and get onto the court (the TEDx stage) to put myself “out there,” making myself vulnerable, putting it all on the line? Certainly, the inspiration and encouragement of peers who challenged themselves to do a TEDx talk and being acknowledged for several personal and professional accomplishments I have had over the past few years.
But more importantly, I began to believe in myself.
What better forum to share my big idea than the TEDxWilmington stage.
I am committed to making a difference in this world, continuing to grow and learn, I must actually experience walking out onto that stage to deliver the talk of my life.
I truly appreciate the extraordinary commitment of the TEDxWilmington tribe and embrace the structure, rigor, and high standards in place, as well, as the deep discipline required to participate in this meaningful work.
I am also profoundly grateful to do what it takes to formulate and articulate my big idea that I will be sharing. I look forward to the challenge of developing my public speaking skills, of being coached and learning from a community of great leaders who thrive on exploring and sharing big ideas that will change the world.
An unexpected outcome and ripple effect of preparing for my TEDxWilmington talk is a breakthrough in what was once fear of public speaking to a large audience. Fear has turned into curiosity, excitement and a new-found confidence…if I can do a TEDx talk, I can do anything; Empowered, unstoppable…No more “sidelines” for me!!
