Preparing for TEDxWilmingtonWomen has been more intense than I could have ever imagined. Where I started and what I thought I would talk about has evolved from observations around me to more about me and my experience of being a woman today. The way in which I have become more connected to the message has truly been a transformation.

I also realized that the support that I need right now is essential to this process. I started off with one coach and have switched to another. This was not easy for me as I am a loyal person but I knew I could not bring my message about motherhood and the lack of satisfaction in our lives in the coaching relationship that I was in. It was an incredible relief that when I asked for help in finding someone new people really showed up. I received great leads and lots of words of encouragement. I am now working with two people, one to help me write the speech and the other to help me deliver it.

One of the things I have heard along the way is to not over think things. I find that to be a tough piece of advice to follow. I am much less concerned about me and how I do and more concerned with doing the topic justice. Representing mothers of all ages and backgrounds and sharing universal truths that will help women feel validated and inspired is what I care most about. I want to start this conversation in a way that women feel understood and inspired for action.

So, as the window of within a month is here I am excited, nervous and curious. I look forward to embarking into the world of sharing my idea worth spreading.
