Ellen Moyer, Ph.D., is a writer, speaker, and environmental consultant whose mission is to help restore the environment and promote a healthier way for us to inhabit the Earth. Even as an eight-year-old picking up litter by the side of her road for five cents a bagful, she was intensely aware of the beauty of the natural world and how our way of life threatens it. She has studied how people in other times and places have lived sustainably (or not), researching their ecology, technology, and social and cultural practices.
With a B.A. in anthropology, an M.S. in environmental engineering, a Ph.D. in civil engineering, and 30 years of consulting experience, Dr. Moyer is a registered professional engineer and a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. She helps government agencies and Fortune 500 companies clean up hazardous waste sites, prevent environmental damage, analyze environmental and economic impacts, and provide educational outreach through writing and speaking. After working for several consulting firms, Dr. Moyer founded her own practice, Greenvironment, LLC, in 2004.
She speaks extensively on the radio and at live events, including more than 100 seminars in North America and Europe. Dr. Moyer is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and has three books and numerous journal articles to her credit. Her latest book, Our Earth, Our Species, Our Selves: How to Thrive While Creating a Sustainable World, inspires readers to upgrade to a high-tech and high-nature way of life.
Dr. Moyer is also an artist who has exhibited and sold paintings, photographs, and fabric designs; an avid gardener; and a health and fitness enthusiast.
