Jody Wood is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City where he received a scholarship from the Drama League and was the recipient of the prestigious Charles Jehlinger Award for Best Actor. He is also an AADA Acting Co. member 1983/84.
Before Jody became a working actor and the director of the JW actors studio in Princeton, NJ and NYC, he was a long time member of the Improv Troupe, The Groundlings, which later became Gotham City Improv. His credits include films such as LA Confidential, Halloween H2O, Rules of Engagement, Chronicles of Riddick, Mimic 2, and Boogie Nights. Jody’s television credits include recurring roles in Diagnosis Murder with Dick Van Dyke, ER, West Wing, NYPD Blue, and CSI Miami. Jody is probably best known for his recurring role as Detective Wallace Danby in David E. Kelley’s Boston Public for 4 years. He combines over 30 years of extensive television, stage, and film work with his business experience as a public presenter, host of national sales launches throughout the country, consulting with sales teams, management teams, executives, and non profits. He has conducted several successful Teambuilding workshops for organizations around the globe and has assisted many CEO’s and countless others to become more adept at public speaking. Jody has conducted improvisation and communication workshops for several schools in the Princeton, NJ area including The Lewis School, PDS, Stewart, Chapin School, American Boy Choir, Johnson School, Robbinsville High School, and Princeton University. He was an instructor and director at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts NYC campus where he also served as an improvisation specialist. He is now conducting improv based workshops for people with Special Needs in New Jersey to help them learn and perfect better communication and social skills. He is expanding that effort in the Northeast. Jody has been married to his wife Sally, (whom he met at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts) for 32 years and they have 2 grown children, Joe and Lucy. He is a member of the SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity Association.
