Kendall Massett is the Executive Director of the Delaware Charter Schools Network (DCSN), a statewide nonprofit organization supporting 24 charter schools that provide independent, tuition-free public education to 15,882 students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Prior to her work as an education advocate, Massett served as Director of Business for At Your Service Hospitality Management from 1998 to 2011. At Your Service provided interim managers to fill open management spots in hotels and restaurants across the country and abroad. During her tenure, she filled in positions ranging from Banquet Manager to Food & Beverage Director to Hotel General Manager. She also served as a facilitator of service training for Public Storage and Best Western Hotels across the United States and Canada.
Before At Your Service, Massett worked at independent and corporate hotels and restaurants in North Carolina and Maryland. She started her career in hospitality while at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., where she received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in hopes of one day owning and operating a luxury hotel. While that dream changed during her career in hospitality, she never lost her love of service and the beliefs that she gained while working in the industry.
Massett’s role as an advocate is a direct result of her time as a 2010 Fellow of Leadership Delaware, Inc. (LDI). The mission of LDI is to recruit outstanding young Delawareans and prepare them with the knowledge, vision, integrity and networks to significantly impact and transform their communities, and to excel at community, nonprofit, political, professional and corporate leadership within the First State. During her fellowship, two speakers deeply inspired her – Command Master Chief Charles Baldwin and William Manning. Both spoke to the group about leadership and education in the First State. Massett knew that was where she wanted to give back to her community in Delaware, and since 2012, she has been able to do so.
Massett also holds a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Management from the University of Maryland University College. She is the President of the Board of Trustees of The Brady Kohn Foundation, a volunteer-driven foundation dedicated to educating the public on the use of stem cells from umbilical cord blood to save lives. Recently she joined the Board for Christ Church Episcopal Preschool, where her children attended. Along with her husband Kelly and their two sons, Massett is an active member of Christ Church Christiana Hundred, where Massett was baptized at the age of 40. The Massetts live in Wilmington, DE with their dog, Bayley.
