Rita’s passion for sustainable fashion began in her undergraduate years at the University of Delaware. After witnessing less than ideal working conditions and a lack of environmental sustainability at textile factory tours in Asia, she created her own major in “Social Responsibility in the Apparel and Footwear Industry.” She then moved to Taiwan to work for NIKE, Inc.’s Sustainable Manufacturing & Sourcing team for nearly four years. There, Rita led the introduction, training, and engagement of global development teams and 1000+ suppliers on the Nike Materials Sustainability Index. She later also consulted for a footwear textile manufacturer.

Recently graduating from the Wharton School of Business, Rita customized her MBA in “Strategy and Management of Global Supply Chains.” For her MBA internship at Under Armour, she further developed the sustainability strategy for raw material suppliers. During her studies, she also worked with other apparel, retail, and tech companies on strategy, marketing, business development, and gap analyses.

Rita is now the founder and CEO of the award-winning startup Thimble, the first website and app to connect hidden fashion design talent to consumers who want to repair, redesign, or custom design their clothes. While Thimble modernizes the traditional brick-and-mortar tailoring industry, its fundamental mission is to slow down the negative environmental and social impacts of fast fashion and excessive consumption.

Born and raised in Delaware, Rita loves exploring esoteric parts of the world and testing her limits in the great outdoors through running, hiking, scuba diving, and kayaking. She enjoys photography, mixing music, and learning Spanish.
