A Delaware native, Stephanie Diggins has worked in the education field in a variety of roles for 9 years.  She graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Production and English in 2004.  After working in the theatre industry for several years, Stephanie decided to pursue a Master’s degree.  She obtained a Master of Education degree from Cincinnati’s Xavier University in Secondary Education-Integrated Language Arts in 2011.  While at Xavier, she also completed the requirements to obtain licensure, including student teaching at the School for Creative and Performing Arts.  Her first teaching position was at Gamble Montessori, where she taught Drama. Stephanie eventually made her way to New York City where she taught English and History at Passages Academy for three years.  After leaving New York and traveling for a bit, including a stay at a Maine yoga retreat, Stephanie found herself back in Delaware.  Upon her return in 2016, she was fortunate to receive two long term substitute positions at William Penn high school.  Stephanie was then offered the opportunity to develop the Teacher Academy program as well teach theatre at William Penn, bringing her back to her roots in more ways than one.  After deciding to be more involved in education policy, Stephanie applied for and was offered a position on the Teacher Council for the Rodel Foundation.  Stephanie is incredibly honored and excited to present the Teacher Academy, a new Delaware Department of Education initiative, to TEDxWilmington and the community. She would like to thank the TEDxWilmington team for this unforgettable opportunity.
