In preparation for this TEDx talk, there were many stories that I recalled. I wrote them down, and then started over. Then, I forgot about what sounded good and discovered that how I felt was good enough.
It’s hard to not want a platform that one respects, to see them when they are the best version of themselves, but the truth is, healing doesn’t come that way. Transparency makes the best music.
It is important to know the power that the voice holds. Music can be such an esoteric experience, and often people do not monitor the words that they are tuned with. I reached back for the story that I thought anyone could relate to in this process, and I am very happy with what I believe the benefits could be. It is true… our subconscious is a symphony, especially when there are so many ways to say one thing.
This series of blogs captures the firsthand reactions of the speakers who were selected (from a field of more than 100 applicants) to give talks at the TEDxWilmington Conference on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the World Cafe Live at the Queen. Tickets are on sale here.
