Doctor, author, blogger, community supporter, public speaker, wife and mother, Dr. Monique Rainford’s mission is to work with women in search of optimal health, wellness and happiness.
A medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Rainford graduated first from the University of Pennsylvania and then Harvard Medical School, where she was recognized for her academic excellence with the John Russwarm Award and the Robert H. Ebert Award in Primary Care Medicine respectively. Completing her residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is the Medical Director for the Baltimore Medical System health centers on the campus of St. Agnes Hospital.
Deeply committed to aiding those in need, Dr. Rainford has worked with several underserved communities over the years, including those of Jamaica, Honduras, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, D.C., Fort Lauderdale, and now Baltimore. With her additional training in psychology, she promotes Lifestyle Medicine, counsels individuals on how to improve their health through diet, exercise, stress management and relationships, and serves on the True Health Initiative Council of Directors.
A prolific writer, Dr. Rainford has been a columnist for the Daily Gleaner, Jamaica’s largest daily news publication, and the South Florida Times, and is author of The Maternal Glow and Please God, Send Me a Husband (two editions). Her other works have been published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, the Baltimore Sun, Afro, Elephant Journal, and Thought Catalog. An avid blogger in her own right, Dr. Rainford has appeared as a guest blogger on Steven Aitchison’s Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, and on Kevin MD.
Equally comfortable on stage as she is at the keyboard, Dr. Rainford has taken her passion for healthy relationships, health and wellness on the speaking circuit, and has made numerous media appearances nationally and internationally, including on CBS Baltimore, ABC 2 Baltimore, and the Maggie Linton Show on Sirius XM.
Now living in Laurel, Maryland she is happily married to Chester Ryan Bourne with whom she has two children, Zane and Kia.
