Elaine Wells is the mother of three sons, who through the virtue of her quest for them to have access to quality educational opportunities, have been educated in almost every type of learning environment there is; public, private, cyber, and charter schools. It is through her seemingly never ending search that she discovered her passion for making sure that not only her children, but every child, regardless of income or zip code, had equal access to a quality education.

Although she has a 31 year-long career with the federal government, she feels her real “full-time” job is fighting for the rights of children and families to have the best that education can offer, and educating other parents and families along the way. She has served as part of the Parent Leadership Team at her sons’ schools for the last 9 years, and also serves on the Board of Directors as the Parent Liaison at The Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia Charter School. She has recently been asked to serve on the Advisory Board for the EOF (Educational Opportunities for Families) – Philadelphia, and was an active member of BAEO (Black Alliance Educational Opportunities) –Philadelphia. She serves as part of the Parent Network with the College Prep Organization, TeenSHARP, serves as part of the Parent Leadership with The YMWIC (Young Men and Women In Charge) Foundation STEM Mentoring Program, and also serves on the Board Of Directors for The Respect Alliance’s S.T.A.R.S (Successful Teens, Aware, Resilient & Strong) Girls’ mentoring program.

She is an advocate of School Choice, access to quality schools for every child, Parents as Partners in the school environment, supporting families as well as school staff and community leaders in making the change toward equal access to quality education.
