Hubert Akeem Lennard Jr. is a 28yr old proud BVilander that lives by Ella Fitzgerald’s quote “it isn’t where you came from, it’s where you’re going that counts”. Akeem as he is called attended the Robinson O’Neal Primary School on Virgin Gorda and completed his secondary education at the Lindsey Hopkins Educational Center in Miami, Florida. Lennard is never shy telling persons about his struggles growing up and how they helped molded him into the person he is today. The majority of his earlier work life has been spent working construction at his father’s business in many different trades. In January 2013 Akeem became an entrepreneur when he started his innovative business, Greencrete BVI, which creates custom products from concrete and epoxy, all while being environmentally friendly by adding recycled glass and shells. He holds 3 certifications for concrete artistry in relation to creating concrete countertops, flooring and furniture. Akeem continues to stay abreast of the arena and become proficient in areas that will help expand his growing business. Over the years Akeem along with Greencrete BVI has received many praises and recognitions in the BVI community and beyond. His company has been awarded the May 2015 Business of The Month by the BVI Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs and the 2016 BVI Biz Pitch winner amongst many other articles and mentions.
Akeem prides himself on being able to give back to his community and territory and as such joined the Rotary family as a member of the Rotaract Club of Virgin Gorda in October 2015 in which he served as Community Service Director and Professional Development Director. He can also often be seen in schools in the BVI speaking to students about recycling and careers.
In his free time Akeem enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with family.
